The SNAP Gap Initiative was born out of the recent government shutdown, when many families unexpectedly saw their SNAP benefits reduced or temporarily suspended. Even though benefits have now been restored, we recognize that many single-mother households are still facing an unexpected gap, especially during the hardest months of the year.
For many families, this season brings not just higher grocery costs, but the emotional weight of wanting to create a warm Thanksgiving dinner or a joyful Christmas morning breakfast for their children.
To help close this gap, our foundation is providing $250 Kroger grocery gift cards to eligible single-mother households. This amount typically provides 1–2 weeks of groceries for a family of three, making a meaningful difference right when it’s needed most.
For every $250 gift card donated, Strong With Mom will match it up to $10,000! This doubles the impact and doubles the number of families we can support.
The SNAP Gap Initiative runs through December 31.
Our hope is simple:
To help single mothers breathe a little easier this season — and to help their children feel the magic, warmth, and dignity every family deserves.
